A lot of people associate hydroponics with space travel and sterile, high-tech gadgetry.  In fact, hydroponics is actually an ancient form of horticulture practiced by such historical cultures as the Egyptians, Babylonians, and Incas.

Hydroponics simply refers to the technique of growing plants by suspending the roots in a nutrient solution using a medium other than soil, such as mineral wool, perlite (volcanic rocks), gravel, or plastic.  This technique ensures that the plants get fed directly, which greatly cuts down on water waste and makes the plants happy.

Big Box Farms has transformed hydroponics by combining it with a highly automated system of planting, growing, and harvesting. In doing so, we have taken agriculture, one of the most labor-intensive jobs out there, and turned it into a far more labor-efficient process.

Essentially, we have combined the wisdom of ancient growing techniques with the convenience of modern technology to grow a great, tasty product!
